About the Workshop
Join us for an immersive hands-on experience in the art of Hawaiian Kapa. In this workshop, students will create their own 12” x 24” small Kapa by beating Wauke bark. While students will work with Wauke that has been cleaned in advance for efficiency, a full demonstration of how fresh Wauke is harvested and prepared will be provided.
Additionally, participants will witness a demonstration of Kapa Po’ulu Breadfruit Tapa. To conclude the session, students will decorate a 12” x 12” white Tapa using natural plant dyes sourced directly from the Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden.
