The Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden seeks a friendly, confident individual to provide Visitor Center services and assist Garden staff with administrative duties. The Garden is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization committed to the preservation and conservation of native Hawaiian, indigenous and Polynesian-introduced plants in the setting of the historic Kona Field System. The Garden is a Community Forest and gathering place for Hawaiian cultural practitioners, students, residents and visitors.
Job Responsibilities and Priorities:
- Greet and orient visitors
- Collect entry and membership fees
- Answer incoming calls and direct calls as needed
- Operate the gift shop including stock, inventory and sales
- Arrange appointments
- Assist with education events
- Assist with event planning and coordination
- Other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in customer service, retail, administrative support, or a related role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs/Sheets
- Experience with Square or similar POS system preferred
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and interact professionally with the public
Other Desired Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Knowledge and/or experience with using native Hawaiian plants and cultivars
Position Duration, and Working Conditions:
Work schedule is Tuesdays-Saturdays during regular Garden hours, with some flexibility with Supervisory approval. Work days and hours may vary occasionally for special events or other needs of the garden.

The Friends of Amy B. H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden is a community-based non-profit founded in 2016 that owns and manages the ethnobotanical Garden/Community Forest located in Captain Cook, Hawaii Island. The Garden serves as a place for scientific, artistic, and horticultural inquiry.

The Garden is a 13.6-acre site home to many unique native and endangered Hawaiian plants as well as Polynesian canoe plants of cultural importance. It contains a large intact archaeological remnant of the Hawaiian agricultural Kona Field System.
